What happens in a first peer support conversation
Minute by minute, so there are no surprises. You can bring questions, or nothing at all.
Most people put off the first conversation because they do not know what it will be like. Here is the whole thing, so you can decide with the facts.
- Before: you choose video, phone or written. If written, we exchange messages over an afternoon instead of talking live.
- First five minutes: we say hello and agree how long we have. Thirty minutes, unless you want less.
- Middle: you say as much or as little as you like about what you are looking for. "I am not sure" is a complete answer. We might ask what a good week looks like for you right now.
- Last five minutes: we say plainly whether peer support seems like a fit. If it does, we suggest a format. If it does not, we point you to something better suited.
- After: nothing happens unless you say so. You can reply in a day, a month, or never.
Things you are allowed to do at any point: turn the camera off, ask for a pause, read from notes, end early, or say you would rather switch to writing. None of them need an explanation.
The first conversation is free and there is no form to fill in afterwards. It exists so that nobody has to commit to anything blind.
